2022 - Two New Semester Abroad Programs being developed by East Meets West!
East Meets West - creates a partnership with Dance Jerusalem - an internationally recognized program started by former Batsheva dancer Paul Bloom, that brings together the resources of Hebrew University and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Starting Fall 2023, Kent State Music and Dance students may embark on a new learning experience in Israel!

Rina Badash – EAST MEETS WEST 2021 Guest Artist
Supported by Cleveland Israel Arts Connection, Jewish Federation of Cleveland and The State of Israel, through its Consulate in New York, The School of Theatre and Dance and East Meets West Student Organization, September 17 – 26, 2021 at Kent State University:
Choreographer and Interdisciplinary artist Rina Badash, Ph.D. is currently Chair, Dance Committee, The National Program for Educational Observation in the Arts, Ministry of Education, Israel. Dr. Badash is a highly sought-after lecturer and teacher, and a faculty member of both Tel-Aviv University and Western Galilee College. Dr. Badash is the first Israeli partner to participate in “East Meets West,” a Kent State student organization. East Meets West creates opportunities for artistic collaboration, engages diverse educational experiences, and builds global citizens for the 21st century. Dr. Badash’s residency will initiate an ongoing relationship between KSU students, and the Israel contemporary dance community. During her residency at KSU, Dr. Badash will choreograph new work for student dancers, teach master classes in modern/contemporary dance, and present lectures on “Dance Pedagogy” and “Israeli Contemporary Dance as Cultural Diplomat and a Means for Conflict Resolution.”

spring 2020, america joined countries through out the world in an international fight against a world pandemic. the restrictions to travel caused our organization to cancel plans to take a group of kent state dancers to israel during the 2020-21 academic year. because of the impact on our operations, we have decided to return to thailand in the 2021-22 academic year in order create a 5th successful collaboration with suan sunandha rajabhat university who has been a partner since the inception of our organization.

2019 brought us a new collaboration with international award winning jewish folk singer Batsheva and the iconic music arranger, composer and performer, john capek. three choreographers and several kent faculty musicians will join 22 kent state dancers in presenting Cohen a tribute to the late leonard cohen.
This engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Ohio Arts Council and the Crane Group.
